The implant for teeth is recommended by dentist for their patients based on the situation of these patients. These are actually metal based roots that are placed and attached unto the bone or jaw of the patient. In some cases, the metal used for the rods is titanium. The reason for this is because it is readily accepted by the human body and poses fewer risks compared to other metals. The titanium rods are screwed and established on the jaw by opening the gum with the missing tooth (multiple rods can be placed, if necessary).

Some dentists recommend a recovery period for the rod to be accepted by the body before putting on the final bridge, crown or dentures. Dentists who usually practice teeth implant always carry out tooth replacement unto the rod in order to prevent the patient from biting down on it and injuring himself or damaging the recently established rod. Something stable must be placed to cover the rod because any damage to it by biting down on it can cause complications to the rod.

Soft diet is usually prescribed during the recovery period. When the time for the permanent appliance to be placed comes, the dentist attaches it and recommends care when using it for several weeks. Recently, more and more surgical dentists are immediately placing the permanent appliance unto the titanium rod to get rid of the repeat procedure which makes recovery longer. The dental implants are usually used to house or support several kinds of appliances used for dentistry implant supported bridges and crowns are the usual fare for these. They allow unidirectional movement for the tooth without the risk of any reciprocal action. See more on dental implant cost.
