As already know the first prescription is orthodontics. This is so because orthodontics is the least invasive and has a high success rate of correction with patients having a jaw abnormality. After the correction is done patients are advised to put on the orthodontics for one to two years. In order to control a patient’s jaw, braces can be used by putting them on the patient’s teeth; the interaction of brackets and wires is what is used to relocate the jaw into a desired positioning.

If you are receiving a regular adjustment to the orthodontics then you are going to be assessed after a precised time period. Retainers, mouth guards, headgear or removable bite plates are at times given to patients as maintainers measures. As concerns these mouth appliances they are put on for a period of generally six months to a year following the removal of the braces from the patient’s teeth. The length at which the patient is suppose to wear the pieces depends on the severity of the case and also on the doctor’s discretion. See, Jaw replacement Surgery
